Learn Mandarin with Wuxi Tang City

TANG City is located at Dafu Mountain, northeast of Wuxi, which is the outdoor scenic base of CCTV. Originally, it is a large-scale royal gardenof Tang Dynasty which is used to shot TV series Emperor Ming of Tang and movie Imperial Concubine Yang. Later it was expanded to be a Film and Television Cultural Scenic Spot and was opened to the society. 无锡对外汉语游学团队整理供稿。

      Optimum Tourist Itinerary

Fairy receiving heavenly dew drops --> Murals in purple clay --> Royal Garden--> Baiyun Taoist Temple --> Main Hall of Tang Palace --> Tour of Yang the Royal Concubine--> Tang Street--> Stone Tablets of Tang Poems --> Chenxian Pavilion--> Huaqing Pool --> Du Fu's Hall of Poems

This is the Tang Street, 110m in length and 34m in width. Fantastic, isn't it?

"Money Exchange House","Cha Dao House","Attic of Leisure","Tai Bai Pub","Qingping Temple"¡ Either nestling against the mountain or built on water side, these buildings are arranged in delicate taste and on varying levels. Banners and streamers fluttering in the wind and exclusive articles on show, the fancy shops have actors and actresses attired in Tang costumes coming in and out of them. The performances of stilt-walking, rowing Lake boats and Heroes come to the beauty's rescue leave the tourists in wonder and awe.

One show especially worthwhile is the "Cha Dao of Tang" in the Cha Dao House. Displayed here are the kills and etiquettes of boiling water, tear steeping, tea tasting in a Tang Dynasty court. Flagrant cup of tea, so gratifying, will make you afresh from all fatigue from the long trip.

If you have seen the kings/emperors appearances in court in TV plays, you may be sure that over 1/3 of the scenes are shot here. The palace is built after the style of Han Yuan Hall of Da Ming Palace in Chan'an in Tang Dynasty, which was the site for the emperors to sit in his court sessions and where solemn ceremonies were held. All furniture and facilities in the palatial hall have been works by CCTV art masters using wood, foam plastic and fiberglass as material. What wonderful imitations!

What makes one wonder is that on the ground floor of the big hall there is a studio of 720 square meters where full scaled integrated art performance can be recorded and TV/movie production units can make it their shooting studio for indoors scenes. In the imitation Tang Gate Tower opposite to the palatial hall is the simulated broadcasting studios for CCTV "Oriental Time and Space" and "News Broadcast". The ancient city wall nearby accommodates the warehouses of costumes, warehouse of settings and make-up rooms.

Doesn't it look like the Huai Ren Tang of Zhong Nanhai?

This is a dynamic-view cinema with the outer appearance of Huai Ren Hall of Zhong Nan Hai in Beijing. With a floor space of 710 square meters and styled with green glaze tiles and arched and extended eves, it is quite unique. It is said that the real Zhong Nanhai is no long accessible to production units and this imitation Huai Ren Tang is built here so that movies and TV plays of the relevant themes can be shot. Another noteworthy thing: all cinema equipment and facilities come Hollywood USA. The two show rooms can accommodate 15 viewers each. The viewer in his/her seat will be kept bumping up and down, tipping forward and backward and rolling left and right or in horizontal rotation as the story on screen develops, in order to actually experience the thrills of big earth quakes, explosion of stars and planets, adventures on deep sea floors or galloping at crazy speed. The excitement will be absolutely beyond your imagination.
